New Delhi, Feb 14 (NationPress) The collaboration between the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and the US National Science Foundation (NSF) is anticipated to enhance research in emerging technologies, positioning India as a global leader, stated Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Friday.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized between ANRF and NSF focusing on critical and emerging technologies during the recent bilateral discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.

Expressing his views on the social media platform X, he commended PM Modi for facilitating the MoU, labeling this partnership as “groundbreaking” with “significant implications”.

“This initiative will strengthen the partnership between both nations and elevate India to a prominent status on the global stage,” the Minister of State remarked.

A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that through this MoU, both PM Modi and President Trump “emphasized the importance of enhancing connections between the scientific research communities of the US and India”.

This partnership builds on existing collaborations between the US National Science Foundation and various Indian scientific organizations.

“It will also facilitate joint research in semiconductors, connected vehicles, machine learning, next-generation telecommunications, intelligent transportation systems, and future biomanufacturing,” the MEA noted.

Established under the Anusandhan National Research Foundation Act, 2023 (25 of 2023) in July 2024, ANRF aims to initiate, develop, and promote research and development (R&D) while cultivating a culture of research and innovation across India's universities, colleges, research institutions, and R&D facilities.

The inaugural meeting of the ANRF governing board in 2024, chaired by PM Modi, concentrated on discussions regarding India's science and technology landscape and the reformation of research and development programs.
