Jaipur, Nov 13 (NationPress) The results of the Anta Assembly by-election in Rajasthan are set to be revealed on Friday. This constituency continues to attract attention due to its distinctive electoral trend.

Since its establishment in 2008 following delimitation, Anta has consistently reflected the ruling party's strength in Rajasthan, with every winning candidate securing a position within the state cabinet.

In the inaugural election of 2008, Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya claimed victory in this newly created seat. The Congress subsequently formed the state government, and Bhaya was appointed as a minister.

During the 2013 elections, BJP's Prabhulal Saini emerged victorious from Anta. The BJP also formed the government that year, and Saini joined the cabinet.

In the 2018 elections, Pramod Jain Bhaya returned to reclaim the seat for Congress, which regained power, allowing Bhaya to return to his ministerial role.

The 2023 elections saw BJP candidate Kanwarlal Meena winning; however, he did not secure a cabinet position despite the BJP forming the government.

Meena's subsequent disqualification due to a criminal conviction has led to Anta's first by-election.

This by-election witnessed an impressive 80.21% voter turnout, with male voters at 82.32% and female voters at 78%. Out of 228,264 registered voters, 183,099 participated, including 96,141 men and 86,955 women.

A notable trend in Anta has emerged where candidates receiving around 50% or more votes tend to win. In 2023, Kanwarlal Meena (BJP) secured 49.64% of the votes, while in 2018, Pramod Jain Bhaya (Congress) obtained 58%. In 2013, Prabhulal Saini (BJP) had 48.84% of the mandate, and in 2008, Pramod Jain Bhaya (Congress) received 50.29% of the votes.

BJP candidate Morpal Suman expressed his gratitude, stating that he never anticipated standing as an MLA candidate, attributing his candidacy to the people’s support.

Conversely, Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya emphasized the developmental projects undertaken during his tenure, arguing that significant funds were allocated for infrastructure improvements. He criticized the BJP for halting these projects.

Independent candidate Naresh Meena campaigned on the issue of alleged corruption against Bhaya, questioning the lack of accountability.

As the Anta by-election results approach on November 14, all eyes are on whether this historical trend will persist and which candidate will uncover the “key to victory” in this politically significant constituency.
