Bengaluru, Aug 20 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has asserted that the apology issued by psephologist Sanjay Kumar regarding his social media comments on the Maharashtra elections represents much more than a mere mistake from his organization; it unveils an entire ecosystem.
In response to the apology, BJP state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra expressed on social media platform X, "The recent apology by psephologist Sanjay Kumar is far more than a simple error from his organization, the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS). It reveals an entire ecosystem that is unwilling to acknowledge the people's decision. After a decade marked by effective governance, the citizens of Bharat granted a historic third mandate to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, placing their trust in his vision for the nation's future."
"Unable to come to terms with this truth, they have propagated fabricated information to imply that the elections were 'stolen'. In this process, they have undermined the credibility of the Election Commission of India (ECI), an institution with an unparalleled 75-year history of conducting free and fair elections throughout our country," Vijayendra stated, targeting the opposition parties.
"Such actions are not just misleading but perilous. An investigation must be conducted to reveal others who have intentionally perpetuated this smear campaign. And if the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party possess any sense of accountability, they too should apologize for their deliberate attempts to undermine public trust in one of India’s most esteemed institutions," he demanded.
Sanjay Kumar remarked, "I deeply regret the tweets concerning the Maharashtra elections. An error occurred while juxtaposing data from the 2024 Lok Sabha and 2024 assembly elections. Our data team misinterpreted the information. The tweet has been removed. I had no intention of spreading any misinformation."
It is noteworthy that just two days after highlighting significant voter additions and deletions in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, psephologist Sanjay Kumar from the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) issued an apology and deleted his posts, igniting a substantial political controversy.
The BJP accused CSDS of disseminating unverified data to support what it termed the Congress’s 'false narrative'. However, the Opposition countered that while it referenced CSDS data, its assertions were also bolstered by independently gathered evidence.
