Kolkata, Aug 20 (NationPress) The police in West Bengal have apprehended a woman along with her partner from Andhra Pradesh, facing serious allegations of murdering her three-year-old daughter. Nazira Bibi and her accomplice Tajuddin Molla were apprehended by the Parulia Coastal Police in the South 24 Paraganas district, following a report filed by Nazira's husband, Azahar Lashkar.
According to Additional SP (Zonal) of Diamond Harbour Police District, Mitun Kumar Dey, the child was taken to the Katrenikona area of Andhra Pradesh and subsequently killed.
Initially, the pair asserted that the incident was accidental; however, during interrogation, they admitted to viewing the child as an impediment to their new life together.
Nazira revealed that her pregnancy with her lover's child led them to see her daughter from a prior marriage as a threat to their future.
A post-mortem was carried out, and the child's body was later buried in Andhra Pradesh.
Azahar Lashkar, residing in Sarisha Kamarpole village in Diamond Harbour, reported that his wife had vanished with their daughter.
Using this information, police successfully tracked down and arrested Tajuddin in Andhra Pradesh.
The family of the complainant is demanding severe penalties for the accused.
According to Diamond Harbour District's Additional Superintendent of Police, Mithun Kumar Dey, "Azahar Lashkar filed a report with the Parulia Coastal Police Station regarding the disappearance of his wife, Nazira Bibi, and their daughter."
"Following this complaint, we initiated an investigation that led us to discover that Nazira Bibi had eloped to Andhra Pradesh with her lover. Upon their arrival, they found that her daughter had tragically passed away," Dey stated.
The couple was taken into custody through coordination with the local police in Andhra Pradesh.
During questioning, they confessed to their involvement in the crime, according to the police.
Upon their presentation in the Diamond Harbour Magistrate's Court, the judge ordered Tajuddin and Nazira to be held in police custody for 12 and 7 days, respectively.
