Bengaluru, July 5 (NationPress) In light of the legal proceedings against BJP MLC N. Ravikumar for allegedly making offensive comments about Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, raised the question of why Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has not faced any repercussions for his repeated disrespectful remarks towards officials.
During a press conference on Saturday, Ashoka highlighted the accusations made by Congress leaders against N. Ravikumar for his remarks. He pointed out that despite CM Siddaramaiah's own disrespectful comments directed at an IAS officer, a District Commissioner, and a police officer, no action has been taken against him.
Ashoka further alleged that the state is witnessing a lack of developmental activity and that MLAs are expressing their discontent.
He mentioned that the High Court has ordered a CBI investigation into the Valmiki Development Corporation scam, suggesting that Ravikumar's comments are being used to distract from pressing issues.
According to Ashoka, if BJP members make errors, they face FIRs, while Congress members seem to evade similar consequences.
He criticized Siddaramaiah for addressing everyone, including the President, in a singular form, insinuating that Congress operates under a separate set of rules.
Ashoka challenged the Congress party to specify the obscene remarks attributed to Ravikumar.
Despite numerous heart attack incidents in Hassan, the district in-charge Minister K. N. Rajanna has not visited local hospitals. Ashoka criticized Siddaramaiah for blaming these incidents on the Covid vaccine, which he claimed was administered nationwide, instead of addressing the issue.
In regions such as Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Sakaleshpur, coffee crops have suffered damage, yet neither the Horticulture Minister nor the district in-charge Ministers have reached out to the affected farmers.
Ashoka announced his intention to visit Hassan to investigate the heart attack incidents and agricultural losses, urging the government to take prompt action.
He condemned the government's focus on discussions about potential successors for the Chief Minister rather than prioritizing development, stating that two and a half years into their term, the government has yet to gain momentum.
Farmers have insisted on receiving water before it is released to Tamil Nadu, highlighting their grievances.
Ashoka accused the Congress government of betraying Karnataka farmers to preserve relations with Tamil Nadu.
He defended the RSS, mentioning that neither Indira Gandhi nor Rajiv Gandhi could take action against it and recalling that former PM Nehru sought their assistance during times of need. He predicted a “Congress-free India” in the future.
Ashoka asserted that a change in the Chief Minister's position is inevitable, with predictions that Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar will ascend to the role soon, citing Shivakumar’s temple visits and prayers as signs of this.
He sarcastically suggested that before targeting the BJP, Congress should first resolve its internal conflicts.
