Assam CM Confirms Sanjay Kishan's Ongoing Commitment to His Constituency

New Delhi, Dec 6 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, stated on Friday that Sanjay Kishan, who has been dropped from the cabinet, will persist in his efforts for his constituency.

While speaking to the media, CM Sarma mentioned: "Sanjay Kishan has stepped down from his ministerial position, and Rupesh Goala, an MLA from the same district - Tinsukia - will be appointed to the cabinet. This is a routine procedure, and Kishan is a seasoned leader and MLA. He will keep contributing to the advancement of his constituency, and the party will assign him further responsibilities."

Additionally, four new ministers are set to join the Himanta Biswa Sarma cabinet.

In a social media update on Thursday, the Chief Minister announced, "I am pleased to inform that the following colleagues will take their oaths as ministers in our cabinet on December 7 at 12 p.m. -- Prasanta Phookan (MLA), Kaushik Rai (MLA), Krishnendu Paul (MLA), and Rupesh Goala (MLA). My best wishes to each of them!"

There were four open positions within the cabinet – three had been vacant since Himanta Biswa Sarma took on the role of Assam's Chief Minister, and one became available after former minister Parimal Suklabaidya won in the Lok Sabha elections.

Prasanta Phookan serves as an MLA for Dibrugarh, while Krishnendu Paul represents the Patharkandi Assembly constituency in the Sribhumi district.

Phookan, aged 70, is a veteran of the BJP, having held the Dibrugarh constituency for four consecutive terms since 2006.

Kaushik Rai is an MLA from Lakhipur, and Rupesh Goala is a legislator from the Doom Dooma constituency in the Tinsukia district.

Both Rai and Goala were elected as MLAs in the 2021 Assembly elections, while Paul has secured the Patharkandi Assembly seat twice.
