Guwahati, March 11 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, took part in a cheque distribution event for the Chief Minister Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan (CMAAA) 1.0 program held at the Khanapara Veterinary Field on Wednesday.
The primary aim of this initiative is to bolster the financial independence of the youth within the state by offering them avenues for self-employment.
During the gathering, the Chief Minister distributed cheques to various beneficiaries under this scheme, emphasizing the government's dedication to empowering young individuals and enhancing employment opportunities across Assam.
Sarma mentioned that eligible youths could access financial support of up to Rs 2 lakh, either with or without collateral requirements. The government also plans to broaden this support for young entrepreneurs by integrating it with the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana in the future.
He detailed that in the initial phase of CMAAA 1.0, around 100,000 youth would be granted an initial sum of Rs 1 lakh. In the second phase, an additional 12,000 beneficiaries will receive further aid, culminating in the final phase where another 12,000 youths will obtain the full Rs 2 lakh.
Sarma expressed, "It is a source of pride for us that a robust model of self-employment is being established in Assam."
Attendees at the event voiced their appreciation for the government's initiative.
One female recipient shared with IANS, "The government's efforts have greatly benefited us. With this financial backing, we can boost our earnings significantly. The government is paying particular attention to women."
Another female beneficiary mentioned that this support has proven invaluable for increasing their income.
A male beneficiary remarked, "During previous administrations, nothing was done, but the current government is genuinely supportive."
A bakery owner stated, "We plan to expand our business with the initial Rs 1 lakh we received."
