Currently, the Chief Minister is on a three-day trip to Japan aimed at showcasing the state’s potential as an investment hub.

In a post on X, Sarma noted, “Assam is on track to become India’s next economic powerhouse. Our USD $12 billion infrastructure investment strategy offers significant opportunities for international companies. We achieved a private investment of USD $4 billion in 2024, which is a record.”

He emphasized that the Japanese business sector is keen to invest in India, highlighting their deep respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“I was delighted to witness the enthusiasm among Japan’s business leaders for India and the immense respect for the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. On behalf of the people of Assam, I have invited Osaka’s dynamic business community to participate in #AdvantageAssam2,” Sarma stated, mentioning that the state government aims to elevate Assam’s GSDP to over 140 billion dollars within the next five years.

“In my discussions with more than 80 business leaders, I communicated our objective to increase Assam’s GSDP to USD $143 billion by 2030,” he shared on X.

Additionally, the Chief Minister expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with a prominent Japanese company for a forthcoming semiconductor manufacturing facility in Assam.

He noted: “During my visit to the Micron Memory facility today, I met with Mr. Joshua Lee, the Vice President of the company, and invited them to engage in Assam’s semiconductor development. The electronic township in Jagiroad is on the verge of becoming a global semiconductor center, and companies like Micron, a leader in FAB technology, can significantly enhance our semiconductor value chain.”

Sarma also had a meeting with Lekh Raj Juneja, who received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman this year from the Union government.

In his post on X, the Chief Minister said: “I had a very fruitful conversation with Shri Lekh Raj Juneja, CEO of Kameda Seika, and invited him to explore prospects in Assam's rapidly expanding food industry. The state already boasts a robust ecosystem for the industry, complete with specialized food parks and major companies actively operating.”

“We are eager to further this momentum with additional companies joining our efforts. I also congratulated Shri Juneja on receiving the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025,” he added.

A spectacular performance of the Jhumur dance, featuring more than 7,500 dancers and artists, will be a highlight of the event. It promises to be an extraordinary spectacle,” he concluded.
