This day commemorates the success of Operation Vijay, through which the Indian Armed Forces reclaimed vital high-altitude outposts that had been unlawfully seized by Pakistani infiltrators.
To pay tribute to the extraordinary valor and ultimate sacrifices of the gallant soldiers of the Kargil War, a solemn Wreath Laying and Commemorative Ceremony was organized by the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, at the State War Memorial, Dighalipukhuri, Guwahati.
