Jaipur, June 23 (NationPress) The Rajasthan government's Devasthan Department has infused a sense of patriotism into its Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme 2025 by incorporating the Attari-Wagah Border into the itinerary. This enhancement allows travelers to experience the renowned Retreat Ceremony in Amritsar, Punjab.
Officials highlighted that this initiative offers senior citizens an opportunity to immerse themselves in the spirituality, cultural heritage, and patriotism of India. Participants will journey on the Rajasthan Vahini Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train, exploring not only religious sites but also significant national landmarks like the Attari-Wagah Border to witness the celebrated Retreat Ceremony.
Experiencing this traditional military display is expected to evoke enthusiasm and a profound sense of gratitude among senior citizens for the Indian Armed Forces. For the first time, the Devasthan Department has officially included both the Border and the Golden Temple in Amritsar in the spiritual circuit.
Devasthan Minister Joraram Kumawat revealed that the upcoming Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train to Mata Vaishno Devi will commence from Udaipur on July 6, passing through Ajmer and Jaipur to reach Katra via Amritsar. This journey merges religious importance with patriotic motivation, reflecting the government's aim of fostering cultural unity and national pride.
On June 6, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated the first AC pilgrimage train from Durgapura Railway Station, Jaipur.
The second train has already departed from Udaipur to Rameswaram, with another AC train scheduled to leave from Dungarpur to Rameswaram via Udaipur on June 27, accommodating 800 passengers, which includes 400 from Dungarpur, 376 senior citizens, and 24 support staff, including instructors and medical personnel.
The next AC train will depart from Udaipur to Vaishno Devi Katra on July 6, followed by additional trains from various regions: Ajmer to Rameswaram via Bhilwara on July 14, Jaipur to Rameswaram via Sawai Madhopur on July 23, August 1, and August 20, with another route from Ajmer to Rameswaram on August 11.
This initiative aims to benefit a total of 6,400 senior citizens. The IRCTC has been officially notified and is overseeing travel arrangements. Kumawat confirmed that the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is outfitted with modern facilities, including air-conditioned coaches, a fully functional kitchen car, bio-toilets, and onboard medical personnel.
Every passenger will receive a confirmed berth, along with complimentary hotel accommodations, meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), transportation, and temple darshan arrangements at every stop.
New destinations added this year include Rameswaram-Madurai, Jagannath Puri, Tirupati, Dwarkapuri-Somnath, Vaishno Devi-Amritsar, Prayagraj-Varanasi, Mathura-Vrindavan-Barsana, Sammed Shikhar-Pawapuri-Baidyanath, Ujjain-Omkareshwar-Trimbakeshwar, Gangasagar, Kamakhya, Haridwar-Rishikesh-Ayodhya, Bihar Sharif, and Goa. A special air route has also been organized to visit the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal.
