Bengaluru, Feb 28 (NationPress) In a disturbing incident, an auto-rickshaw was sandwiched between two Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses, leading to the tragic demise of two individuals onboard the vehicle on Friday.
The victims have been identified as 50-year-old Vijay Kumar, the auto driver, and 70-year-old passenger Vishnu Bhatia. This unfortunate event transpired at Sita Circle near Hosakerehalli Cross in Bengaluru.
Authorities reported that the accident occurred when a BMTC bus driver abruptly applied the brakes. The auto driver lost control and collided with the BMTC bus ahead of him. Simultaneously, another BMTC bus approaching from behind crashed into the auto, effectively crushing it between the two vehicles.
The force of the collision left the auto utterly destroyed, resulting in the immediate deaths of both the driver and the passenger. After receiving reports, police quickly arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and transported them to the hospital.
Both BMTC buses have been confiscated, and the drivers have been detained in connection with the incident. This tragic occurrence also caused a traffic jam lasting over an hour.
