Chandigarh, Sep 27 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, the Punjab Police successfully extradited Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Parminder Singh, known as Pindi, from Abu Dhabi in the UAE back to India with the diligent cooperation of central agencies, as stated by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
DGP Yadav revealed that Pindi has connections with foreign terrorists Harwinder Singh, also known as Rinda, and Happy Passia, and is implicated in various serious offenses, including petrol bomb attacks, violent confrontations, and extortion activities in the Batala-Gurdaspur area.
Promptly acting on a Red Corner Notice (RCN) from Batala Police, a dedicated four-member team, led by a senior police official, traveled to the UAE on September 24. They coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities, completed all necessary legal procedures, and successfully returned the accused to face justice, according to the DGP.
"This successful extradition demonstrates Punjab Police's unwavering stance against terrorism and organized crime, as well as its strong investigative skills and international collaboration," he remarked.
"We extend our gratitude to the Central agencies, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and the Government of the UAE for their invaluable assistance in this collaborative effort to uphold justice and enhance national security," DGP Yadav added.
Previously, the wanted gangster Passia, who allegedly orchestrated 16 terrorist plots in Punjab, was apprehended in April and placed in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the United States.
India's premier anti-terror organization, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), was also seeking him. The NIA had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for Passia due to his purported role in grenade attacks on a residence in Chandigarh and police stations across Punjab.
Passia, a close associate of Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, has been involved in numerous terrorist activities in Punjab with the support of Pakistan's ISI, Rinda, and the banned terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International. He was apprehended by teams from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and ICE.
