Bengaluru, June 19 (NationPress) — An FIR has been lodged by the Karnataka Police against the principal and administration of a private educational institution in Bengaluru. This action stems from allegations that they transferred Class 10 students to a government school without the knowledge of their parents, purportedly to ensure a 100 percent pass rate in Board examinations.
Parents assert that this decision resulted in their children failing the Board exams due to the absence of internal assessment marks.
The High Grounds police initiated the FIR against Saint Mary’s Girls’ High School following parental grievances. Reports indicate that at least 10 students have not passed their Class 10 Board exams as a consequence of this situation.
Deepika, one of the students affected, shared her experience with the media, stating that she had been enrolled at Saint Mary’s since Lower KG.
She recounted that when hall tickets were distributed, the school staff informed students of a different examination center and instructed them to take their exams at the government school. Upon receiving her results, she found that her marks card lacked internal assessment scores.
“We reached out to the school about this issue but received no feedback. When we requested the transfer certificate (TC), the school management directed us to collect it from the Bangaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) School. We are unclear about the reasons for this. Had I received my internal marks, I would have passed,” she expressed.
“The same fate has befallen 10 other students from the same institution,” she added.
In their complaint, parents further stated that since the children did not attend classes at the BBMP School, they were marked absent, which meant they were not allocated internal assessment marks, leading to their failure in the Board exams.
Additionally, parents claimed they had paid fees to Saint Mary’s Girls’ School and were not informed about the students’ transfers to the government school. They also alleged that the school falsely represented the children as orphans.
According to the parents, the students failed to receive internal assessment marks from the government school due to this transfer, resulting in Board exam failures.
They further alleged that the school principal and management enrolled the students in the government institution without parental knowledge, falsely declaring them as orphans from an orphanage.
The police have commenced an investigation into this troubling matter.
As of now, the school has not provided any comments regarding these serious allegations.
