Lucknow, June 5 (NationPress) The National President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Mayawati, criticized the Karnataka government on Thursday over its alleged mishandling of events that led to the devastating stampede in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
“The daily occurrences of stampede-related deaths highlight a worrying trend of governments lacking seriousness and empathy towards public gatherings. This issue deserves immediate attention,” stated Mayawati during a press conference.
Her implicit criticism of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah followed the tragic incident at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a stampede during the RCB's IPL trophy celebration claimed the lives of 11 individuals and left over 50 injured.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati directed her ire at Siddaramaiah shortly after BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra took to 'X', questioning if Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar would face consequences similar to those faced by Allu Arjun in a previous incident.
“The stampede in Bengaluru resulted in the loss of 11 lives, marking a tragic moment not just for Karnataka but for the entire nation. The Prime Minister and many others have conveyed their condolences. The BJP also mourns these invaluable lives lost in the Karnataka stampede,” he remarked.
Shifting her focus back to Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati emphasized, “It is crucial for a major state like Uttar Pradesh to carry out its developmental responsibilities.”
She also condemned the rising tide of negativity, animosity, and narrow-mindedness within the political landscape of the country.
“The public is taken aback and disheartened by the impolite and indecent behavior of leaders over trivial matters,” she remarked, noting that the prevailing toxic environment is significantly hindering the nation’s developmental and self-reliance endeavors.
“The wealth of the nation’s affluent is increasingly being funneled into foreign investments, exacerbating critical issues like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, and backwardness,” she concluded.
