Bengaluru, Oct 18 (NationPress) Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated on Saturday that in comparison to major metropolitan areas such as Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi, the traffic system in Bengaluru is significantly more efficient.
While presenting 50 new traffic patrol vehicles in front of Vidhana Soudha on behalf of the Bengaluru City Traffic Police, Parameshwara emphasized the necessity for large corporations and industries to contribute positively to the welfare of the state's residents.
"According to regulations, major industries are mandated to allocate two percent of their profits towards public initiatives. Numerous companies are actively engaging in this practice," he explained.
The Minister mentioned that the state government procures hundreds of vehicles annually for the police force, with 500 vehicles being acquired this year alone.
A delegation of police officials previously visited London, where they learned about the operations of the London Metropolitan Police's Command Centre.
"This facility was specifically created to effectively handle accidents and emergencies. Inspired by this model, a similar Command Centre has been established in Bengaluru at a cost of Rs 26 crore, enabling police to respond to emergency calls within nine minutes," he added.
Additionally, the Bengaluru Traffic Police have rolled out an innovative initiative known as the "BTP Astram e-Accident" application.
"Often, immediate assistance is lacking during accidents, complicating the insurance claims process. To alleviate this issue, accident reports can now be submitted via the e-Accident feature in the app, simplifying the procedure," Parameshwara stated.
He also commended the Bengaluru City Police for their successful efforts in tackling the drug crisis.
Recently, drugs valued at Rs 24 crore were seized in a single operation.
The police are consistently visiting educational institutions to educate students and young adults about the dangers associated with drugs, he remarked.
He acknowledged that heavy rainfall has resulted in potholes throughout the city, but repair work is currently in progress.
It is unfair to attribute blame to the state government for political motives, he remarked.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Tushar Girinath, State Director General of Police M.A. Saleem, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, and Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Karthik Reddy were present.
