Bhopal, June 25 (NationPress) The eagerly anticipated Metro rail initiative in the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, is set to commence operations by October of this year, as announced by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister revealed that he has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Bhopal Metro project alongside several other significant railway projects exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore in Madhya Pradesh.
"Indore was the inaugural city in Madhya Pradesh to implement a Metro rail service, and Bhopal is on the verge of following suit, with operations slated for October. We have extended an invitation to PM Modi for the inauguration of the Bhopal Metro," stated Yadav.
This announcement was made during a gathering at the inauguration of a VIP lounge at the Bhopal railway station, where travelers can access facilities for only Rs 50 and enjoy refreshments for Rs 100.
Additionally, he declared that a new rail coach manufacturing facility will be established in Umaria village within the next two months, located near Bhopal.
"This facility will be comparable in capacity to BHEL. Furthermore, the construction of four tracks in the Delhi–Nagda–Ratlam corridor reflects significant advancement in the railway sector. A new railway link from Bhopal to Jhalawar via Rajgarh is also on the horizon," the Chief Minister noted.
CM Mohan Yadav stressed that under PM Modi’s guidance, the railway infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh has experienced remarkable expansion, with numerous new railway tracks receiving approval.
The Railway Ministry has recently sanctioned projects valued at Rs 18,500 crore for the Indore–Manmad and Indore–Dahod rail lines.
Preparations are also in motion to enhance railway facilities for the upcoming Ujjain Simhastha.
It's worth mentioning that the initial phase of the Indore Metro Rail project was virtually inaugurated by PM Modi on May 31, heralding the launch of the first metro rail service in Madhya Pradesh.
