Patna, July 24 (NationPress) On the eve of the conclusion of the monsoon session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, chaos erupted on Thursday as MLAs from both the ruling and opposition factions engaged in a clash, culminating in a brief scuffle that necessitated the intervention of marshals to restore order.
The uproar commenced during a debate on the special intensive revision of the voter list, where Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav challenged the government.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary interrupted Yadav, stating, "What can someone whose father is a criminal in Bihar say? He is a robber."
Tejashwi responded sharply, escalating the situation and leading to heated exchanges that forced the Speaker to adjourn the proceedings.
Outside the Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav accused BJP MLAs, including Taraiya MLA Janak Singh, of repeatedly abusing him inside the House.
"Yesterday, the Deputy Chief Minister was abusing, and today his followers are abusing. BJP leaders lack the courage to hear the truth," Tejashwi claimed, mentioning that his mother and sisters were also targeted with abuse.
Tejashwi refuted any allegations of using abusive language himself, asserting, "If I have used any abusive words, let them prove it. BJP’s state president Dilip Jaiswal has a dictionary of abuses; they should check and tell which word I used."
In response to the allegations, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha accused RJD MLAs of using foul language and provoking the ruling party during the session.
"It is unfortunate that such incidents are occurring. Both the ruling party and the opposition must uphold the dignity of the House," he stated.
Sinha further claimed that the RJD’s conduct reflected a mentality rooted in Jungle Raj, asserting that despite public discontent, the opposition's arrogance persists.
The Assembly session has experienced repeated disruptions over the voter list revision, with the opposition accusing the government of irregularities, which the ruling party has consistently denied, leading to numerous confrontations both inside and outside the House.
