Patna, Feb 26 (NationPress) In a significant political shift ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the government led by Nitish Kumar is poised to broaden its cabinet today, welcoming seven new ministers.

Earlier this morning, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Jaiswal tendered his resignation, confirming the impending cabinet enlargement.

Santosh Kumar Suman, a leader from HAM(S), mentioned that he had received a casual invitation from cabinet minister Mangal Pandey and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary to gather at Raj Bhavan at 4 p.m.

"I have been contacted by Health Minister Mangal Pandey and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary regarding the meeting at Raj Bhavan. While I lack any formal communication from Raj Bhavan about the cabinet expansion, I plan to attend at 4 p.m. today," Suman stated.

Political momentum surged at the residences of CM Nitish Kumar, Dy CM Choudhary, and BJP state chief Jaiswal.

Reportedly, the BJP's central leadership has green-lighted the final list of the upcoming ministers.

Potential new members of the Nitish Kumar cabinet include Janak Singh and Raju Singh from the Rajput community, Aruna Devi, Anil Sharma, Devkant from the Bhumihar caste, Naval Kishore Yadav from the Yadav community, and Vijay Mandal from the Extremely Backward Caste (EBC).

With active coordination between BJP leaders and the party’s state in-charge Vinod Tawde, this cabinet expansion aims to enhance the NDA's caste dynamics ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections.

This expansion is pivotal for reinforcing the BJP's clout in Bihar while ensuring seamless cooperation with JD(U) prior to the elections.

Jaiswal announced his resignation from the ministerial role to comply with the BJP’s one person, one post policy. As the newly appointed BJP state president, he asserted that holding both positions contradicts party values.

"The BJP advocates for one person holding one position, thus I have stepped down from the cabinet minister role while continuing to lead the BJP in Bihar as state president," Jaiswal informed IANS in Patna.
