Patna, May 1 (NationPress) Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the decision to conduct a caste census, criticizing the UPA government for its inability to implement it during their decade-long governance.
“PM Modi has realized the aspirations of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Lalu Yadav, and even Nitish Kumar. However, they are now attempting to claim credit for an initiative they neglected while in power,” stated Chaudhary during a press conference in Patna.
He also mentioned that BJP ministers in Bihar will tour various districts to hold press briefings to clarify the government's position to the public.
“These are the same individuals who, during their 10 years of UPA administration, proposed a caste census in 1995-96, yet never acted on it. Now they are vocally expressing their opinions,” Chaudhary remarked.
In a similar vein, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha noted, “PM Modi has taken a courageous step towards the nation’s future. This will mark the end of dynastic politics. Individuals like Tejashwi Yadav only thrive on chaos.”
Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh criticized the opposition, particularly targeting Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Congress.
“Lalu Prasad Yadav has spent his life under Sonia Gandhi, stifling the reservation agenda while pretending to support it. It is PM Modi who has purged the long-standing sins of these political parties,” he remarked.
The Central Government's announcement to carry out a nationwide caste-based census has sparked a political battle, with various parties attempting to stake their claim on the credit.
While leaders from Congress and RJD, including Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, assert that this decision stems from their persistent pressure, the BJP has sharply countered, accusing them of “hypocrisy” and “political opportunism.”
