Agartala, Nov 23 (NationPress) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasized on Sunday that women's economic empowerment and social progress are pivotal goals for the government, highlighting the vital role women play in the Atmanirbhar Tripura and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Speaking to an audience at the Mahila Morcha event organized by the BJP's women's wing at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala, he explained that the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is a national mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May 2020, which was revitalized in September this year and will extend until December.
"The primary aim of this initiative is to enhance India's economic conditions, defense capabilities, infrastructure, and technology. These needs became evident during the Covid crisis, which our Prime Minister recognized. It became clear that assistance from others is limited unless we are self-reliant. Thus, the Prime Minister continually advocates for 'Vocal for Local'. We are also promoting 'Vocal for Local' in Tripura, with the slogans 'Har Ghar Swadeshi' and 'Ghar Ghar Swadeshi'," he stated.
CM Saha reiterated that for an Atmanirbhar Bharat to be realized, collective contributions to create an Atmanirbhar Tripura are necessary. He mentioned that only when every state achieves self-reliance will an Atmanirbhar Bharat be possible. He remarked, "On the centenary of our country's independence, the Prime Minister envisions a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Therefore, each state must progress. Presently, Tripura is advancing in healthcare services. We have initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana to enhance our health system gradually."
He observed that many individuals opt for private hospitals for treatment. "However, if you can endure minor inconveniences, the district or state hospitals provide commendable care. Many people also pre-book tickets to visit places like Kashmir, Bangalore, and Sikkim for tourism, leading to financial outflows. Conversely, Tripura is home to numerous beautiful tourist spots. Keeping our funds within the state is crucial for our self-reliance and strength," he remarked.
Highlighting the importance of women in society, the Chief Minister stated that his government prioritizes their holistic development. He encouraged everyone to be informed about the rights and benefits the state government has extended to women.
"Women significantly influenced the recent Bihar elections, contributing to our substantial victory. Approximately 50% of the population comprises women, who are the backbone of families, and they are increasingly taking on roles in society and governance. From operating trains to piloting aircraft, women are excelling across various fields, including space missions alongside doctors and engineers," he added.
The event was also attended by Dipak Majumdar, the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, along with other public figures and party officials.
