Patna, Dec 8 (NationPress) Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary has mandated significant reforms in the state’s traffic management system.
During a comprehensive review meeting on Monday, he directed officials to implement robust, systematic strategies aimed at alleviating congestion and facilitating the smooth flow of traffic throughout Bihar. Samrat Choudhary highlighted the necessity of enhancing the effectiveness of traffic personnel and called for the establishment of a dedicated Traffic Training Institute.
He remarked that scientific and modern training is crucial for enhancing on-ground traffic management.
The Deputy Chief Minister urged for an increase in the traffic police workforce and insisted on stringent action against habitual offenders of traffic rules. He made it clear that there would be a zero tolerance policy towards individuals who repeatedly violate traffic regulations.
To combat the escalating issue of illegal parking, he instructed the use of private cranes alongside departmental ones. These cranes will be deployed extensively to remove encroachments and ensure unhindered vehicle movement in urban settings.
A key directive included the creation of traffic command and control centers at strategic locations such as outside Patna Junction and other railway stations, as well as at busy intersections across the state. He also instructed the Panchayati Raj and Urban Development Departments to install CCTV cameras at all entry and exit points of municipalities and panchayats.
Samrat Choudhary emphasized the importance of launching a large-scale traffic awareness campaign targeting schools, colleges, panchayats, and urban bodies to foster responsible behavior among the public.
The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that establishing a smooth, safe, and organized traffic system is a top priority for the government. He assured that strict measures will be taken at every level to address congestion and enhance road safety throughout the state.
