Patna, Aug 20 (NationPress) Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar revealed on Wednesday that the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-5) will take place following the Bihar Assembly elections, while the TRE-4 is scheduled before the elections.
While addressing media in Patna, Kumar also spoke about the ongoing protests by STET candidates, confirming that the government has engaged in discussions with them.
“Their requests are being regarded with sympathy. A definitive decision will be made by the government soon,” he assured.
The STET candidates have protested in Patna twice in the past 20 days.
On August 18, frustration among teacher candidates in Bihar sparked demonstrations in Patna, as they insisted that the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) should occur prior to the TRE-4 recruitment examination.
Candidates from various districts gathered at Patna College, demanding that the government conduct the STET first to promote fairness and offer unemployed teacher candidates an equal opportunity.
“Conducting TRE-4 without STET would be unfair to countless individuals,” protesters declared.
On August 18, Patna police resorted to a Lathi charge on the protesters.
In response to the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’, the Education Minister remarked, “It’s his right to do so, but it won’t impact us. Under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, our government has created numerous jobs, supported women’s empowerment, and ensured reservations.”
When questioned about the alleged tearing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s posters in Nawada, the minister stated that the situation would be addressed firmly according to the law.
“If an incident has occurred, the police will investigate and take necessary actions,” he added.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra commenced from Sasaram on August 17, traversing through Nawada, Aurangabad, and Gaya. The leaders of the India bloc paused on Wednesday and plan to continue their journey from Sheikhpura and Lakhisarai on Thursday.
This yatra will span 23 districts and conclude at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on September 1.
