Gaya, June 8 (NationPress) The Lok Nayak Jaiprakash Eye Hospital, established in 2020, has emerged as a pivotal facility in Bihar's Gaya, renowned for its eye care services that have reached over 10 lakh individuals from Gaya and nearby areas such as Nawada, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, and Nalanda.
This hospital, located in Kajha village of the Wazirganj block, specializes in treating various eye ailments. It boasts a modular Operation Theatre, two additional OTs, 100 inpatient beds, a pathological lab, a shop for spectacles and medicines, cutting-edge diagnostic tools, and a skilled team of eye surgeons and paramedical personnel.
Currently, the hospital is in the limelight for offering complimentary eye surgeries to thousands of patients under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). Almost 40% of the patients here hold Ayushman cards, allowing them access to free medicines and surgeries through the scheme.
Numerous beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat initiative have shared their experiences with IANS, expressing their heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing such a vital scheme.
Balinder Singh from Bhedia village in Manpur block remarked, "I received treatment through the Ayushman card. I got timely care, meals, and all necessary amenities. Without this card, my treatment wouldn't have been feasible."
“In our family, my wife possesses this card. A younger boy will also get one made. I extend my gratitude to the central government for this initiative,” he added.
A woman named Malti Devi, who underwent eye treatment at the hospital, stated, "My card has been issued. The eye surgery was performed without any financial burden. I am thankful to the Modi government. Thanks to the central government, my eyesight has been restored."
She further mentioned, "This government prioritizes the welfare of the underprivileged. Ayushman cards are being issued in rural regions. This initiative not only spreads awareness but also encourages people to seek treatment. If this card hadn't existed, my eyesight would remain untreated. This has been made possible by the central government, and I want to thank PM Modi for this."
Importantly, the hospital attended to 26,240 OPD patients and successfully conducted cataract surgeries for hundreds through 637 rural eye camps last year. Due to its exemplary service and societal impact, it received a certificate of appreciation in both 2022 and 2023.
