New Delhi, June 8 (NationPress) A woman was strangled to death in a hotel room located in Paharganj, central Delhi. Her lover, who harbored suspicions about her having an affair with another man, is now in custody, according to a Delhi Police official on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Sarika, aged 29, was found lifeless in the bathroom of her hotel room by the staff around 9:30 a.m. in the Nabi Karim area, as reported by the police.

Concerns arose among the hotel staff when they noticed Sachin, 31, leaving the hotel alone in the morning. Upon checking the room, they discovered the woman's body in the bathroom, the police stated.

Law enforcement tracked down Sachin and arrested him after initiating a search using CCTV footage and the identity documents he provided at check-in.

Sarika and Sachin had reserved the hotel room on Saturday evening around 4 p.m., according to police records.

The hotel staff indicated that the couple had ordered pizza after checking in and observed no signs of conflict between them until that evening.

Following his arrest, Sachin was charged with murder after he confessed to killing Sarika during a fierce argument about her alleged infidelity.

"Upon arrival at Gali No. 2 in Nehru Vihar, the Dayalpur police team found the girl in an unconscious state, and she was taken to the hospital by her father," he added.

"Our team reached the hospital, where doctors declared her dead after a preliminary examination. Signs of sexual assault were evident," he continued.

A case has been registered at the Dayalpur police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita concerning murder and aggravated sexual assault, including Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
