Patna, June 20 (NationPress) A tragic rail incident transpired early Friday on the Katihar-Barauni rail line under the Sonpur Railway division, where the 15910 Avadh-Assam Express crashed into a railway trolley located between Kadhagola and Semapur stations. This catastrophic event resulted in the death of one railway worker and left four others severely injured.
The high-speed express train, traveling from Barauni, collided with the trolley positioned on the track’s down line.
The trolley was obliterated, leading to the immediate fatality of one trolley operator, while four others sustained grave injuries.
The injured individuals were swiftly transported to the nearest healthcare facility, where they continue to be in critical condition.
The body of the deceased railway employee has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and his family has been notified.
A medical team from Katihar was promptly dispatched to the scene, as confirmed by Katihar ADRM Manoj Kumar Singh.
ADRM Singh announced that a comprehensive investigation has been initiated to ascertain the accident's cause.
“We are probing how a railway trolley ended up on the active track during the train's operation. Whether this was due to human error or a technical malfunction will be clarified after a detailed inquiry,” he stated.
This incident has once again ignited serious concerns regarding railway safety measures and the coordination among railway personnel during maintenance or logistics operations on live tracks.
Previously, on June 16, four wheels of a goods train derailed near the Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) section of Muzaffarpur Junction around 6:02 PM.
The goods train had been returning to Narayanpur after unloading ballast and originated from the Madipur area.
According to a railway official, a wagon derailed shortly before the incident, causing the train to lose balance.
