Patna, July 8 (NationPress) In a significant move ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led government has unveiled noteworthy financial support for differently-abled individuals pursuing civil services examinations, reinforcing its dedication to inclusive development.
During a Cabinet meeting chaired by CM Kumar on Tuesday, where 43 proposals were ratified, a fresh initiative was approved under the Chief Minister Divyangjan Empowerment Scheme 'Sambal' aimed at aiding disabled candidates who aspire to secure prominent government roles.
The newly introduced 'Divyangjan Civil Service Promotion Scheme' will assist differently-abled male applicants from Backward Classes (BC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and the General Category who are currently not receiving any support under the existing Civil Services Promotion Scheme of the state.
According to this initiative, disabled candidates who succeed in the preliminary exam of BPSC or UPSC will be granted Rs 50,000 to facilitate their preparation for the Mains.
Moreover, an additional Rs 1 lakh will be awarded to those who advance to the interview phase to assist in their preparation.
Officials emphasized that this financial backing is designed to integrate differently-abled candidates into the mainstream, ensuring their representation in high-ranking government positions and enhancing their confidence.
This initiative is anticipated to alleviate financial burdens during preparation and motivate differently-abled aspirants to compete effectively in civil services.
The decision is viewed as a crucial advancement toward inclusive development, equal opportunities, and empowerment of differently-abled youth in Bihar, aligning with the state government's focus on youth and social justice in the lead-up to the 2025 elections.
In addition, the Bihar government has sanctioned a 35 percent reservation exclusively for native women candidates across all categories in direct appointments within all state government services.
The government has also greenlit the establishment of the Bihar Youth Commission, aimed at maximizing employment opportunities and skill development for the state's youth.
