Bengaluru, Sep 18 (NationPress) In response to the allegations of 'vote chori' made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against the Union government, the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stated on Thursday that he lacks common sense and has been the subject of significant ridicule over the past four to five years.
During a press conference at the Ramada Resort in Bengaluru's Singanayakanahalli, Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and senior BJP leader R. Ashoka addressed Rahul Gandhi's claims about an alleged effort to remove over 6,000 voters' names during the 2023 Aland Assembly elections in Karnataka.
LoP Ashoka asserted that Rahul Gandhi is indeed a person devoid of common sense.
He further mentioned that Rahul Gandhi continually recites narratives scripted by others and has endured extensive ridicule in the country for the last few years.
“Recently, Rahul Gandhi claimed he would disclose shocking facts regarding voter fraud in the Mahadevapura Assembly constituency. However, it was later revealed that his allegations were unfounded. He alleged that hundreds of votes were cast from a single household, but only four votes were actually cast, which was substantiated,” LoP Ashoka stated.
“Now, he’s (Rahul Gandhi) revisiting the Aland Assembly elections. Aland is quite distant. In contrast, right next to Bengaluru, in the Malur Assembly constituency, genuine voter fraud occurred, as confirmed by a court ruling. Despite the court’s directives and a request for CCTV footage, the Deputy Commissioner failed to comply. The Congress MLA who emerged victorious there has lost his membership. What additional evidence is required?” the BJP leader questioned.
“Even when the Election Commission requested Rahul Gandhi to file an affidavit regarding his allegations of voter fraud, he did not comply. Conversely, our candidate in Malur submitted an affidavit and sought an investigation from the High Court, which found that the District Commissioner acted improperly and mandated action. Is Rahul Gandhi unaware of this?” LoP Ashoka queried.
“The Congress leaders seem restless even though the Election Commission has dismissed all allegations of voter fraud. Why didn’t they discuss this matter in Parliament by providing all necessary documents? Whenever asked for documentation, they vanish. Now, they are once again accusing the Election Commission,” he stated.
BJP MLC C.T. Ravi commented: “If Rahul Gandhi has any grievances, he should submit a formal complaint along with an affidavit to the Election Commission. The Commission has asked him to do so. Why hasn’t he opted to lodge a complaint?”
“This is an effort to shift blame for their own failures. Rahul Gandhi criticizes the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiated by the Election Commission; whom does he trust? How can we be assured that he respects the Constitution? His allegations seem designed to incite lawlessness. It appears to be a conspiracy to instigate such a scenario,” BJP leader Ravi remarked while criticizing Rahul Gandhi.
“Such developments will cause the public to question any future victories. In my constituency, I discovered that votes were cast for deceased individuals. Can I claim that Congress orchestrated this? Can I challenge the validity of the Congress party's victory against me?” the BJP MLC questioned.
