Kolkata, Feb 27 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted on Thursday that an online agency affiliated with the BJP has recently become active in West Bengal with the intent to misappropriate the voter list, enabling individuals from other states to cast their votes in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.

“From the information I have gathered, the two agencies involved are Association of Brilliant Minds and Company India 360. These agencies have contacted data entry operators and collaborated with some negligent block-level returning officers to link names of voters from other states with the EPIC numbers of voters in West Bengal,” she stated during a Trinamool Congress meeting.

The Chief Minister highlighted specific instances of voters from states such as Haryana, Gujarat, Bihar, Punjab, and Rajasthan, noting that the majority are from Haryana and Gujarat.

She pointed out that similar misappropriations occurred in previous elections in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Haryana, which assisted the BJP in securing victories. “Other parties failed to notice this tactic, but we in Bengal have recognized it well in advance, and we will not let this scheme succeed here,” the Chief Minister asserted.

Following this, she declared the establishment of district-level core committees within her party, tasked solely with identifying such alleged misappropriations in their respective districts.

“These committees will report findings to a centralized committee led by our state president in West Bengal, Subrata Bakshi. The identification of bogus voters must be completed within the next 10 days. If the committee does not accomplish this, I will personally identify the bogus voters,” the Chief Minister declared.

Earlier that day, Abhishek Banerjee, general secretary of the Trinamool Congress and party Lok Sabha member, raised questions about the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding its hesitance to disclose the complete identity of “One Abhishek Banerjee” mentioned in a charge sheet.

While addressing party workers at a large gathering, he remarked, “It has been reported that the CBI has filed a charge sheet against me, mentioning my name twice. Who is Abhishek? Where does he live? There has been no detailed introduction in the charge sheet... The CBI is speaking impersonally. I embrace this fear. However, my nature is not to speak doublespeak. I have previously stated that if anyone can prove corruption against me, I will face the consequences. I reiterate this,” he stated during the Trinamool Congress' organizational meeting.

He noted that nothing materialized after the CBI summoned him for questioning earlier. “Abhishek Banerjee will never submit to anyone but the common people,” he added.
