Raebareli, Sep 10 (NationPress) Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha and MP for Rae Bareli, commenced a two-day journey to his parliamentary constituency on Wednesday, which marks his first visit since April 29, following his win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
He arrived in Lucknow earlier that day, where he was greeted by Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai, legislature party leader Aradhana Mishra, and other prominent party members. He then proceeded to Rae Bareli by road.
Prior to his arrival, Ajay Rai stated to IANS, "Our leader, Rahul Gandhi, is coming to connect with his party workers and his Rae Bareli family. His two-day visit will include participation in multiple events."
Rahul Gandhi's schedule features a blend of political activities and public outreach initiatives.
Later in the day, he is set to engage with booth presidents from the Harchandpur Assembly constituency at Batohi Resort in Didauli, followed by attending a Prajapati Mahasabha event near Pragatipuram Colony on the Lucknow-Prayagraj Highway.
He is also expected to inaugurate a pillar dedicated to Emperor Ashoka at Gora Bazar in Rae Bareli city and participate in a sapling plantation initiative at Amar Shaheed Veera Pasi Van Gram in Mulihamau village of the Rahi block.
Later that evening, he will meet booth-level workers from the Unchahar Assembly segment at the Batohi Resort.
On the second day of his visit, Thursday, Gandhi will meet local residents and representatives at NTPC Unchahar in the morning.
He will then chair the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at Bachat Bhawan, where he will assess the progress of development projects and welfare schemes throughout his constituency.
Upon his arrival in the constituency, UP Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh staged a sit-in with several BJP members, protesting against the Congress MP's visit and chanting slogans.
