New Delhi, April 30 (NationPress) The BJP has expressed its support for the Centre’s decision to undertake a caste census during the upcoming population census. This initiative received approval on Wednesday at a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In response to this announcement, Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya, conveyed his sincere thanks, stating, "I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Census Commission will implement this initiative, and the Union Cabinet has declared the inclusion of a caste census. I commend this decision and congratulate the entire Union Cabinet and the Prime Minister."

He remarked that the opposition leader, Rahul Gandhi, along with the Congress party, who feigned support for a caste census, have been unmasked, while the Samajwadi Party has also only pretended to pursue the survey.

“The BJP government, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, has made a groundbreaking decision - potentially the most significant in the history of independent India. This decision brings happiness to Dalits, tribals, backward and deprived communities, and the impoverished. It feels like Diwali for 140 crore Indians,” he stated.

He further added that, under PM Modi's leadership, India has witnessed the extraordinary becoming a reality. “That’s why the nation chants Modi Hai to Mumkin Hai.”

Meanwhile, BJP leader Ajay Alok noted that with the acceptance of the Rohini Commission report by the President and the Cabinet, it was evident that a caste census was imminent.

“Preparations had already commenced. It is now a reality. Congratulations to the Prime Minister and the entire Cabinet for making this decision,” he remarked.

He pointed out that for the Congress, their last remaining tool is now lost.

“This is a pivotal moment - it marks the first time in independent India that such an initiative will occur, resulting in numerous dynamic changes,” he commented.

BJP leader Pratul Shah Deo emphasized that the BJP-led NDA government has consistently adhered to the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.’

“This caste census is a timely and essential step. Unlike the Congress, which suppressed the Mandal Commission report in the 1980s, we are dedicated to all segments of society - SC, ST, OBC, and economically disadvantaged groups,” he asserted.

He concluded by stating that the census will facilitate the evaluation of caste-based data and enhance governance, reiterating that the BJP wholeheartedly welcomes this decision from the Union Cabinet.
