New Delhi, June 6 (NationPress) The President of Kerala's BJP, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, sharply criticized Agriculture Minister P. Prasad for opting out of an event at Raj Bhavan, citing his discontent with the display of a portrait of Bharat Mata on the stage. “The image of Bharat Mata is here to stay. Regardless of whether the CPM or Congress approves, Bharat Mata embodies our vision of the nation and will perpetually do so…” Chandrasekhar stated to IANS.
He raised concerns over the breach of decorum and protocol, stating, “The real issue is that a minister from the state government was invited to the World Environment Day event but chose to boycott the governor’s program, which is hosted by the state’s constitutional head, simply due to his aversion to the portrait of Bharat Mata.”
The businessman-turned-politician also criticized the Congress administration in Karnataka in light of the tragic stampede on June 4, which resulted in 11 fatalities. “The Congress government in Karnataka is utterly inept, corrupt, and heartless,” he declared, calling for the resignation of CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.
He insisted that both the Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister should be held accountable and questioned the silence of the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, regarding the incident.
“Currently, pensioners struggle to receive their pensions, and farmers are fighting against suicides. They are an anti-people government that deceived the populace to gain power,” Chandrasekhar said.
“During this incident, the Chief Minister and Deputy CM were in the stadium, celebrating the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory, while outside, fans were being trampled,” he emphasized.
He condemned the apparent “lack of sensitivity and negligence” from the Karnataka government, adding, “It is nonsensical for the Deputy CM to commend the police on a day when 11 lives have been lost.”
Chandrasekhar also criticized Congress for attempting to take credit for the Chenab Bridge, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jammu on the same day. “The Congress has nothing meaningful to say, so they only snipe. The reality is that these major mega projects were stalled for years, leading the nation to believe they were unachievable. However, Prime Minister Modi has not only completed the Anji and Chenab bridges but has also addressed numerous challenges that have plagued the country for decades,” he stated.
The former Union Minister praised PM Modi for utilizing infrastructure to connect even the most remote areas of the nation with the heartland. “Jammu and Kashmir is now closely linked to India’s heartland through these projects, as is the Northeast and other remote regions, thanks to roads, bridges, trains, and modern infrastructure,” Chandrasekhar highlighted.
He concluded that PM Modi has made India more cohesive, connecting consumers with markets and generating numerous opportunities for both local and national economies.
