BJP Criticizes Azam Khan, Urges End to Appeasement Politics

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) In a recent statement, jailed Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan demanded the INDIA bloc to clarify its position regarding the purported injustices against Muslims in Rampur. In response, BJP leader Rohan Gupta asserted that the era of appeasement politics is behind us and emphasized that the future lies in the politics that represents every Indian.
From his prison cell, Azam Khan, a key Muslim figure in the SP, urged his party to advocate for the alleged injustices against Muslims in Rampur with the same vigor it displayed regarding the Sambhal violence.
Khan criticized the INDIA bloc for its silence while the Muslim leadership in Rampur faced significant challenges, demanding a definitive stance on the matter.
In an interview with IANS, BJP National Spokesperson Rohan Gupta articulated a firm position, highlighting the necessity of steering clear from divisive appeasement politics.
"The nation has progressed significantly. The politics that divides Hindus and Muslims, the politics of appeasement, is now a part of our past. The future is about the politics of every Indian, representing 140 crore citizens, where all have rights," Gupta declared.
Gupta elaborated that the government's priority is to provide equal rights to all citizens, irrespective of their religion or caste.
"The new government does not oppose anyone but is also not supportive of appeasement. Every individual deserves equality. No one's religion or caste is a factor in our governance. We are addressing past wrongs, and there is nothing inappropriate about that," he emphasized.
He also pointed to the Waqf Amendment Bill, which aims to place Waqf institutions under constitutional oversight, labeling it as a move away from a flawed system that has persisted for years.
Gupta further highlighted the existing discord within the INDIA bloc, particularly concerning the internal issues faced by the Congress party.
He noted, "The outcomes of the Lok Sabha elections are telling. The Congress has encountered defeats across the board."
"The party has become so entangled in appeasement that even its own allies are now distancing themselves from its leadership," he claimed.
Gupta suggested that performance and leadership should be the focal points in political coalitions, asserting that the Congress party’s ineffectiveness in managing its allies has resulted in fractures within the alliance.
He stressed the fragmentation of the INDIA bloc in several elections, citing the collapse of alliances in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
"The truth is evident to the entire nation, and the Congress must reflect on why such circumstances are arising for them," Gupta concluded.
