Patna, April 3 (NationPress) BJP official Rituraj Sinha has robustly defended the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, extending his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, and all members of Parliament who backed the Bill.
Sinha asserted that the Bill is crucial to curb the misappropriation of Waqf properties, which he claimed had been subject to illegal occupation under previous legislation.
Citing instances of land disputes, he remarked: “If an individual purchases land and leaves it unattended for several years, Waqf can lay claim to it without documentation. They even asserted that the Indian Parliament and the Maha Kumbh land were Waqf properties. Isn’t that sufficient evidence to indicate that an amendment was necessary?”
He accused “land grabbers and mafia” exploiting the law's loopholes of being the ones against the amendment.
Sinha criticized the opposition, stating: “Those whose dishonest operations have ceased are the ones making a fuss.”
He challenged the rationale for such a law in India when no Muslim-majority nation has equivalent provisions. Furthermore, he highlighted that despite the wealth of Waqf, the Muslim community remains significantly disadvantaged, suggesting that Waqf properties are not aiding the impoverished.
Sinha connected the Bill to other significant BJP initiatives, asserting: “Similar to the abrogation of Article 370, Triple Talaq, and the advocacy for One Nation, One Election, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill exemplifies PM Modi’s decisive governance.”
He underscored that the Modi administration distinguishes itself from past governments due to its robust and nation-focused policies, positioning it as the most favored government to date.
While the BJP rejoices in the passage of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, opposition parties—particularly RJD, Congress, and Muslim leaders—continue to vehemently contest it.
Muslim leaders within JD-U are resigning from their positions following the party's support for the Bill.
Mohammad Kasim Ansari from East Champaran’s Dhaka constituency and Shahnawaz Malik, the State Secretary of the Minority Wing of JD-U, stepped down from their roles and primary membership on Thursday.
