New Delhi, Feb 2 (NationPress) Following the announcement of the Union Budget 2025-26, the BJP took it upon themselves on Sunday to clarify its provisions for Delhi voters, emphasizing how these measures would be advantageous for them.
BJP’s National spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, during a press briefing, asserted that the Budget introduced by the Modi administration is comprehensive and economically empowering for all segments of society.
“This is a transformative budget designed to set the stage for a developed India, with substantial allocations for farmers and the middle class,” he remarked.
Trivedi highlighted that this year's budget prioritizes critical sectors: urban development, power, mining, tax reforms, farmers, and structural changes.
He underscored that urban development and power are of paramount importance if India aspires to achieve developed nation status.
According to him, Delhi is poised to gain significantly from these initiatives. The expansion of the metro network signals the dawn of a new chapter in Delhi’s infrastructure.
Trivedi noted that while the middle class anticipated a tax exemption of up to Rs 10 lakh, the government has raised this to Rs 12 lakh, surpassing expectations. “With nearly 1 crore middle-class residents, Delhi stands to gain the most, as 85 percent of taxpayers will no longer be liable for taxes,” he stated.
Furthermore, he indicated that the TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) exemption threshold has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000. This adjustment means individuals earning below Rs 1 lakh annually will be free from TDS deductions. “Moreover, those relying on rental income will now enjoy TDS exemption for earnings up to Rs 6 lakh,” he elaborated.
Trivedi also mentioned the government’s plan to establish five skill centers aimed at enhancing youth training, ensuring a promising future.
“The tax exemptions provided in the budget will result in a direct tax collection decrease of Rs 1 lakh crore and an indirect tax shortfall of about Rs 36,000 crore. However, this is not an abrupt action but a carefully devised strategy rooted in PM Modi’s long-term economic vision,” he stated.
He stressed that the economically disadvantaged sections of society have been empowered to live with dignity. As they advance in the industrial sector, the government intends to offer them even greater support than anticipated.
He pointed out that the BJP has already launched initiatives such as the “Ladli” scheme in Madhya Pradesh and similar programs in Maharashtra.
Trivedi criticized Arvind Kejriwal’s assertion of providing Rs 25,000 per family in Delhi, labeling it groundless and ridiculous. “Delhi’s budget amounts to Rs 78,000 crore and there are 40 lakh families. How can this be funded?”
BJP’s national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari and state spokesperson Anil Gupta were also present during the press briefing.
