Agartala, Sep 2 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, expressed on Tuesday that the citizens have come to realize that without the BJP, no party can bring about development in the state or the nation. He emphasized that the CPI(M) and Congress have merely utilized the Janajati (tribal) community for their own electoral gains.
During a party event at Killa in the Gomati district of southern Tripura, CM Saha stated that the populace is becoming increasingly aware that the development of Tripura and the entire nation hinges on the efforts of the BJP, as both the state and central governments have demonstrated their effectiveness.
At the gathering in Killa, which is predominantly inhabited by tribal people, a significant number of 610 voters from 200 families representing various political affiliations joined the BJP, in the presence of Saha and other prominent BJP officials.
In welcoming the new party members, the Chief Minister remarked: “On Sunday (August 31), I was present in Asarambari for a large assembly linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat, which has gained immense popularity and is unprecedented among leaders. Although it is a non-political event, our party workers faced attacks while listening to last month’s broadcast. We are prepared to make sacrifices for our country, and whenever our workers are attacked, the party remains resolute in its support.”
He referenced an incident from July 27, where BJP functionaries were reportedly assaulted by members of the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) during a gathering in Asharambari, resulting in injuries to nine party workers. The TMP, led by former royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, is an ally of the ruling BJP and has two ministers in the Cabinet under CM Saha's leadership.
The Chief Minister stated that the BJP rejects the politics of murder, terror, and violence that characterized the 40 years under the CPI(M) led Left government and the Congress-led coalition. “The BJP does not engage in such unethical politics. The public has observed the tactics of the CPI(M) and Congress. We stand for peace and, if necessary, are prepared to defend it. They exploited the Janajati (tribal) community merely as a vote bank. PM Modi consistently advocates for development accessible to all. Our goal is to coexist with both Jati and Janajati in harmony,” Saha asserted.
He added that terrorism emerged during the CPI-M's governance, but under the BJP administration, the state has been liberated from terror. The condition of the Northeast was dire until 2014, but everything transformed with Narendra Modi's elevation to Prime Minister. Saha highlighted that the current central government is dedicated to advancing the Northeast.
“Peace now prevails in Tripura, and we have adopted the HIRA (Highways, Internet, Railways, Airways) model, which has significantly improved connectivity,” he stated.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister criticized the CPI(M) for failing to honor Maharaja Bir Bikram for his pivotal contributions to Tripura’s development. He noted that the BJP government has duly recognized the legacy of the Manikya Dynasty of Tripura.
The last king of Tripura, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur (1923-1947), made substantial contributions to the state's welfare and development, establishing schools, colleges, markets, and various institutions, as pointed out by the Chief Minister.
He lamented that the CPI(M) never accorded them the respect they deserve.
The program also featured BJP MLA Rampada Jamatia, BJP State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, and Mandal President Amar Jamatia.
