Kolkata, May 9 (NationPress) In light of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the West Bengal BJP president and Union Minister of State, Sukanta Majumdar, reflected on the patriotic themes expressed in the works of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on Friday.
In an interview with IANS, he mentioned that members of the Indian armed forces are currently drawing strength from Tagore's poignant lines that state: “O amar desher mati, tomar pore thekai math (O my native soil, I bow my head to you in deep obeisance).”
“These words by Gurudev serve as an inspiration, and our courageous soldiers are standing strong at the borders because of them. It is crucial for all Indians to unite under the same inspiring message from Gurudev, who elevated Indian literature on the global stage,” Majumdar expressed during a ceremony to honor Gurudev's statue.
Addressing the ongoing tensions with Pakistan, Majumdar asserted that India has solutions for every provocation from its neighbor. “Our soldiers have begun to respond assertively. This marks a transformed India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The armed forces have already begun countering threats from Pakistan, and this momentum will persist,” he stated.
He emphasized that the Indian military targets only terrorist installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “Following these actions, Pakistan retaliated against innocent Indians and military establishments in our country, necessitating a strong response, which our soldiers are executing. I can confidently say that the Indian populace trusts our Prime Minister. From Balakot to Pulwama, India has consistently responded effectively to Pakistan's provocations under his leadership,” Majumdar affirmed.
Regarding Pakistan's recent request for an IMF bailout amidst rising tensions, Majumdar remarked on its dire financial situation, indicating that it should refrain from pursuing conflict.
“India always advocates for peace. However, if they seek war, the Indian government has the obligation to safeguard its citizens,” Majumdar concluded.
