Kolkata, Sep 3 (NationPress) A number of prominent BJP leaders are set to travel across various states in the nation during the upcoming festive season, commencing with Durga Puja, to engage with Bengali-speaking migrant workers.
This initiative aims to create a counter-narrative against the Trinamool Congress' claims of mistreatment towards Bengali-speaking migrants in different states, while also providing factual insights gathered directly from the workers, as confirmed by a BJP state committee leader.
Initially, a delegation of 27 senior leaders from the BJP in West Bengal, including a few elected members such as MPs and MLAs, is scheduled to visit various states during the festive period to connect with the Bengali-speaking migrant community currently residing there for work.
"The number of representatives in the team might be slightly augmented if necessary," mentioned a member of the state committee.
During their interactions with these Bengali-speaking migrant workers, the BJP leaders from West Bengal intend to ask a series of specific questions.
The state committee leader disclosed that the inquiries will include:
- What motivated them to seek employment or contracts in other states, distancing themselves from their families and friends?
- Do these Bengali-speaking migrants believe that any organization, be it state-run or private, in West Bengal can offer comparable salaries to what they are earning elsewhere?
- What is the estimated difference in income they receive in other states compared to the maximum they could earn in West Bengal?
The final inquiry will focus on whether they have encountered any form of discrimination at their workplaces based on their language or from local authorities, even after successfully establishing their Indian identities.
On Monday, during the inaugural day of the Special Session of the West Bengal Assembly, a motion was introduced to deliberate on the alleged mistreatment of Bengali-speaking migrant workers in various states governed by the BJP.
