Hyderabad, Sep 3 (NationPress) Kalvakuntla Kavitha has officially stepped down from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and her role as a Member of the Legislative Council on Wednesday.
Following her suspension from the party by her father, K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), who also serves as the BRS president, Kavitha made her resignation announcement regarding her primary membership.
During a press briefing, she confirmed that her resignation as MLC has been submitted to the Legislative Council chairman, while a separate resignation from the BRS was sent to KCR.
Kavitha has dismissed the idea of joining another political party, stating she will determine her next steps after discussions with Telangana Jagruthi members, intellectuals, and others committed to a democratic Telangana.
She accused certain factions within the party of coercing her father into suspending her and specifically named her cousins, T. Harish Rao and J. Santosh Kumar, for creating divisions within the family. Kavitha urged KCR and her brother, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), to recognize and eliminate the party's adversaries.
Furthermore, she alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy manipulated people around KCR to cause family rifts and warned KCR and KTR that they too might fall victim to ongoing conspiracies, suggesting Harish Rao is scheming to seize control of the party.
Kavitha indicated that the conspiracy against her began when Revanth Reddy and Harish Rao traveled together to Delhi, claiming there was collusion between them. She criticized the Congress government for failing to investigate allegations against Harish Rao and questioned why KCR did not hold him accountable during discussions on the Kaleshwaram project.
Expressing her pain over her suspension after dedicating 20 years to the party and the people of Telangana, Kavitha stated that actions against her were taken without investigating her claims regarding internal conspiracies.
In a poignant moment, she expressed her sorrow about not being able to see her mother, asserting, “My journey has been with the people for the last 20 years, and this will continue. I am strong-willed, fearless, and determined.”
Kavitha made serious allegations against Harish Rao, holding him responsible for the CBI investigation into KCR regarding alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project, stating that Harish Rao was responsible for all related decisions.
She also revealed that during the 2019 elections, Harish Rao provided extra funding to 20-25 MLAs to secure their loyalty, linking this to corruption from Kaleshwaram.
Furthermore, she contested the narrative that Harish Rao was an early member of the party, clarifying he joined 9-10 months after its inception. “He is not a trouble-shooter. He is a bubble shooter. He creates problems and then pretends to solve them,” she remarked.
Kavitha also accused Harish Rao of conspiring to defeat KTR in Sircilla back in 2009 and attributed other party exits, including Eatala Rajender, Myanampally Hanumanth Rao, and Vijaya Shanthi, to him and Santosh Kumar.
