Hyderabad, Sep 2 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC K. Kavitha was on Tuesday suspended from the party by her father and party President K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) due to anti-party activities.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) General Secretaries, T. Arvind Rao and Somu Bharat Bharat Kumar, released a statement indicating that KCR's decision to suspend Kavitha was immediate.
As per the statement, the BRS leadership viewed Kavitha’s recent actions seriously, noting that her anti-party activities were detrimental to the party's integrity.
After a series of meetings with senior party officials since Monday, KCR made this decision following Kavitha's outspoken criticism of her cousin and former minister T. Harish Rao, along with two former MPs.
Upon returning from the US, Kavitha openly criticized Harish Rao, another cousin J. Santosh Kumar, and former Rajya Sabha member Megha Krishna Reddy, accusing them of damaging KCR’s reputation.
Her comments coincided with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's announcement about transferring the case concerning alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Kavitha alleged that the actions of those surrounding KCR have tarnished his reputation and led to the CBI investigation. She questioned, “Does Harish Rao, who served as Irrigation Minister for five years, bear no responsibility?”
She asserted that while KCR was focused on the welfare of the people, his associates were colluding with major contractors for personal gain, which prompted Revanth Reddy to initiate a CBI inquiry against KCR.
Kavitha expressed her distress as KCR's daughter that he had to face such scrutiny and stated she has endured conspiracies from Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar without retaliation.
This suspension occurred three months after an internal letter she wrote to KCR was leaked, in which she blamed his associates for the breach.
Kavitha had previously described KCR as a god surrounded by devils and held some party leaders accountable for her defeat in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency during the 2019 elections.
For the past three months, she has been leading protests on various issues under the banner of Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organization she oversees.
