The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, 26 May 2025, marked 12 years since the NDA government first assumed office at the Centre on 26 May 2014, describing the period as a transformative journey of good governance, development and national renewal under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. To mark the occasion, the Centre launched a nationwide outreach campaign in which Union ministers, BJP leaders, chief ministers and Members of Parliament will connect with citizens across the country.

Nationwide Campaign to Highlight 22 Achievements

The outreach initiative will focus on what the government has described as its 22 major achievements across sectors over the past 12 years. The campaign covers welfare schemes, infrastructure expansion, economic reforms, digital governance, foreign policy milestones and social sector initiatives undertaken during the Modi government's tenure. Union ministers and elected representatives are expected to address public gatherings in their respective constituencies as part of the drive.

BJP National President Nitin Nabin extended greetings to Prime Minister Modi, characterising the 12-year journey as one from 'resolve to achievement'. In a post on X, Nabin said: 'This era, which began on May 26, 2014, is not merely a change in governance but a historic moment of the nation's reclaimed self-confidence and cultural renaissance under the illustrious leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.' He highlighted flagship programmes including Jan Dhan, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Digital India, and invoked the principles of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas' alongside the vision of 'Antyodaya'.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, also posting on X, said 26 May 2014 marked the beginning of a new chapter in India's developmental and civilisational journey. 'From economic development and social welfare to a strong push for Aatmanirbhar Bharat and digital transformation, from infrastructure growth and decisive global leadership to a stronger national security framework, under his leadership, India has marched ahead with unprecedented speed and scale,' Singh said. He added that millions who had 'remained unseen and unheard for decades became active participants in India's growth story.'

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan described the period as a 'golden era' of India's reconstruction and public welfare. Posting on X, Chouhan said the country had moved away from what he termed an era of 'policy paralysis' and embraced the mantra of 'Reform, Perform, Transform'. He cited schemes ranging from Jan Dhan accounts and Ayushman Bharat to PM Awas Yojana and the Digital India revolution as evidence of the government's reach to the poorest citizens.

Key Themes of the 12-Year Tenure

Across statements, BJP leaders converged on several recurring themes: the empowerment of marginalised communities through direct benefit transfers, the push for self-reliance under Aatmanirbhar Bharat, infrastructure build-out, and a more assertive foreign and security policy. The government's framing of 'Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi' — balancing development with cultural heritage — also featured prominently in the anniversary messaging.

Looking Ahead: Viksit Bharat 2047

BJP leaders used the anniversary to reaffirm the government's long-term target of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047, the centenary of independence. Nabin described the 12-year record as 'the strongest foundation' for that larger ambition, while Chouhan said the country was 'rapidly advancing' toward the goal.
