Jaipur, Jan 17 (NationPress) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA representing Hawa Mahal, Swami Balmukundacharya Maharaj, has categorically rejected the assertions put forth by Congress leaders concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, labeling them as unfounded and deceptive.
He emphasized that the SIR is being executed by the Election Commission of India (ECI), a constitutional entity, with utmost integrity and transparency to produce accurate and clean voter lists.
Swami Balmukundacharya Maharaj articulated that the SIR aims to eliminate duplicate entries, names of deceased individuals, and ineligible outsiders from the voter registry.
He underscored that the same Election Commission has conducted by-elections in Rajasthan with complete transparency, resulting in victories for both the BJP and Congress. “Had the Commission been biased, Congress wouldn't have secured any seats. Continuous false allegations won't aid Congress,” he remarked.
In a pointed critique of the opposition, the BJP MLA stated that Congress's resistance to SIR arises from their apprehension about illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators losing their voting rights, highlighting the party’s urgency.
He questioned Congress's objections to actions against individuals allegedly residing illegally while benefiting from government schemes.
“Casting doubt on constitutional bodies is an act of irresponsibility,” he stated, asserting that the BJP gains public trust through diligent work and service.
He made it clear that no political figure possesses the power to remove names from the voter list, which is exclusively held by the Election Commission.
“Anyone providing valid documentation has nothing to worry about -- no legitimate voter's name will be removed,” he urged, calling on Congress leaders to participate in the cleansing of electoral rolls. Supporting fraudulent voters, he added, undermines national interest.
Pointing to serious inconsistencies in voter records from the Hawamahal Assembly constituency, Swami Balmukundacharya Maharaj claimed that numerous voters are registered at addresses where no one lives, including instances of 39 voters registered at a 50-square-yard residence, and individuals aged 105 to 107 years listed despite not residing there. “These irregularities are indicative of a history of fraudulent activities,” he alleged.
The MLA reiterated that fraudulent voting, multiple registrations across different states, and illegal beneficiaries threaten democracy and need rectification. He clarified that it is permissible for women to update their voter registration post-marriage based on their residence.
In conclusion, Swami Balmukundacharya Maharaj stated that the BJP does not engage in appeasement politics. “Whether it’s Ram or Rahim, serving the populace is our principle,” he proclaimed, adding that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Rajasthan is experiencing comprehensive development.
He asserted that during two years of BJP governance, Congress has failed to raise any significant issues or provide evidence of corruption.
