New Delhi, March 15 (NationPress) BJP MP representing Chandni Chowk, Praveen Khandelwal, praised the Delhi Police on Saturday for the apprehension of Mohammad Hanif, a co-defendant in the violent incidents linked to the December 2019 anti-CAA protests in southeast Delhi.
In a conversation with IANS, Khandelwal remarked, “This marks a significant victory for the Delhi Police. It is evident that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Double Engine government in Delhi and our law enforcement agencies will not tolerate any anti-national activities.”
On Friday, Hanif was arrested after being declared a proclaimed offender for failing to show up in court regarding the December 2019 anti-CAA protests, where he is accused of violence.
Hanif stands accused alongside Sharjeel Imam and Aasif Iqbal Tanha, as per police reports.
Khandelwal also criticized AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi for claiming that the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 would permit the government to confiscate mosques and dargahs.
“Owaisi is politicizing the Waqf Bill, which is being addressed democratically through the JPC. The Parliament will soon discuss and approve the Bill,” he conveyed to IANS.
“Certain individuals are making statements for political leverage. However, they will not prevail. The Waqf Bill will be deliberated upon and passed in the House,” he added.
The BJP MP further questioned the decision by the Karnataka government to offer 4% reservation to Muslim contractors under the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement (KTPP) Act.
“The Karnataka government must clarify its actions regarding the upliftment of other marginalized communities,” he stated.
“Is the Karnataka government implementing similar initiatives for the advancement of other communities? Currently, it seems that the government is only appeasing one community for political advantages,” Khandelwal remarked.
Responding to the recent Holi-related disturbances in Jharkhand, Khandelwal emphasized the need for concerned agencies to take action.
He also criticized the Jharkhand government for neglecting fundamental issues while promoting its political agenda. “In such situations, it is the public that suffers the consequences,” he stated.
