Bhubaneswar, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday vehemently criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, charging her with using provocative language and issuing veiled threats towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent visit to the state.

During a press conference held here, the BJP denounced the Chief Minister's statements, labeling them an attack on democratic principles and a desperate measure to safeguard what they termed her ‘vote bank’ of illegal immigrants.

BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra referred to comments allegedly made by CM Banerjee, in which she purportedly called HM Shah “dangerous” and compared him to adversarial figures, asserting he was sequestered in a hotel and could only navigate West Bengal freely due to her leniency.

Patra stated: “We have also witnessed how Mamata Banerjee has threatened the Home Minister of India with words that are unfathomable. Mamata Banerjee remarked that ‘you (referring to HM Shah) are hiding in a hotel. If we wish, you cannot exit the hotel. You are fortunate that we permitted you to leave the hotel’.”

“Instead of addressing the serious security concerns raised by the Home Minister, the Chief Minister has resorted to name-calling and issuing threats,” the BJP spokesperson reiterated.

The party alleged that Banerjee’s administration has systematically hindered the Home Ministry's initiatives to secure the India-Bangladesh border, especially by refusing to allocate land necessary for fencing.

The BJP accused the Trinamool Congress of “facilitating infiltration” as a calculated strategy to change the demographic landscape of the state.

Furthermore, the party claimed that while the Centre is dedicated to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to ensure that only Indian citizens can vote, Banerjee has threatened widespread protests and “riots” to obstruct this process.

“Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is aware that her political footing is deteriorating. By threatening to harm opponents and allegedly inciting violence against central agencies, she demonstrates that under her governance, jihadi elements and rioters feel more secure than ordinary citizens,” commented the BJP national spokesperson during the briefing.

Patra also referenced instances of post-election violence in West Bengal, alleging that over 300 BJP members have been killed under the Trinamool Congress administration, suggesting that the state government has effectively endorsed violent behaviors.

“The Home Minister’s visit aimed to restore the dignity of Bengal and its women, who have suffered from severe atrocities in regions like Sandeshkhali. Mamata Banerjee’s response—demanding the Home Minister's resignation and making veiled threats—will not deter the BJP from its commitment to achieve a two-thirds majority in the 2026 Assembly elections and end what they deem ‘Jungle Raj’,” Patra asserted.

The BJP reaffirmed its dedication to the citizens of West Bengal, pledging that a forthcoming BJP government would eliminate illegal infiltration across the eastern borders.

Patra concluded by stating that the people of Bengal are prepared to exchange “fear and corruption for effective governance” and will give a “suitable response” to the Trinamool Congress in the approaching elections.
