Will the BJP Rise to Power in Punjab by 2027?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Jan 4 (NationPress) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini declared on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to establish its government in Punjab during the upcoming 2027 elections, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the vision of transforming Punjab into one of India's premier states.
Saini criticized the current Punjab government, claiming that its leaders came to power through deceptive promises. He stated that despite four years in office, they have failed to prioritize the welfare of the people, instead focusing on exploiting the state. Issues such as drug addiction, unemployment, and unfulfilled promises have devastated Punjab.
Once the BJP assumes control in Punjab, Saini assured that development will mirror that of Haryana.
Addressing a public meeting at the grain market of Ghanaur in Patiala district, which borders Haryana, he noted that the BJP's presence in Haryana was doubted in the past. However, after 2014, the political landscape shifted, and the BJP has been in power for three consecutive terms.
He expressed confidence that a similar outcome awaits Punjab. Saini pointed out that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had vowed to eradicate drug problems before taking office, yet drug abuse has surged instead. Promises to provide employment for the youth remain unfulfilled, and financial support for women and senior citizens have not materialized as promised.
The Chief Minister highlighted Haryana's achievements under the BJP, including the LPG cylinder scheme priced at Rs 500 and the Lado Lakshmi Scheme, which provides Rs 2,100 to women. He noted that Haryana offers the highest pension for senior citizens in the nation at Rs 3,200.
Furthermore, he criticized the previous Congress government for halting recruitment, while the BJP prioritized issuing appointment letters to 25,000 youth after taking office, regardless of the oath ceremony.
Saini also mentioned that a resolution was approved in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha to honor the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur, with numerous initiatives organized to educate the younger generation about his significant sacrifice.
To commemorate this, 350 blood donation camps were held, collecting 350 units of blood at each site. The Haryana government is committed to ensuring the legacy of the Gurus reaches every household. Recently, Prime Minister Modi visited Kurukshetra to pay tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur by unveiling a commemorative coin, a postage stamp, and a coffee table book. Additionally, universities in Haryana will bear the names of the Gurus.
Finally, Saini remarked that the AAP government in Punjab effectively closes its doors after 5 p.m. He mocked AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, asserting that despite their promises, they fail to deliver results, leaving the people of Punjab to endure the consequences. A once-thriving Punjab has been damaged by the AAP's governance, he concluded.
