New Delhi, Feb 11 (NationPress) The BJP has kept the intrigue alive regarding its next Chief Minister in Delhi as 10 newly-elected legislators convened with National President J.P. Nadda on Tuesday to discuss potential candidates for the prestigious role.

This meeting, while termed a courtesy call, included an exploration of the MLAs' opinions on the necessity of appointing a deputy chief minister, according to a party official.

A conclusive decision regarding the selection of the Delhi Chief Minister is anticipated around February 15, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return from his international trip, the official noted.

The official added that Nadda also sought insights from the 10 MLAs concerning the party’s campaign strategies in their individual Assembly constituencies.

The legislators who met with Nadda comprised Vijender Gupta, Satish Upadhyay, Kapil Mishra, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Anil Goyal, Anil Kumar, Shika Rai, Rekha Gupta, Kulwant Rana, and Ajay Mahawar.

Nadda's discussions with the BJP MLAs coincided with a closed-door meeting of the defeated AAP, which involved Punjab legislators at the residence of National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.

These discussions with Punjab MLAs emerged amid speculation about the potential defection of certain AAP legislators.

On the previous day, Kejriwal met with the AAP’s 22 newly elected Delhi legislators, urging them to assume a constructive role as the Opposition.

During this meeting, the former Delhi Chief Minister encouraged Punjab legislators to work diligently and set their sights on winning the Assembly elections in the agrarian state by 2027.

Apart from Kejriwal, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sandeep Pathak were also in attendance, where they expressed gratitude to Punjab leaders for their contributions to the party’s campaign in Delhi and analyzed their defeat to derive lessons for future endeavors, as stated by a party representative.

Following the AAP meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Mann indicated that discussions were also centered on positioning his state as a model to be emulated by others, especially since the party’s Delhi model has lost relevance after its electoral defeat in the Capital.

The AAP, which had governed Delhi for a decade, faced a significant challenge in the polls held on February 5, capturing only 22 out of 70 seats.

In contrast, the BJP, with 48 seats, has ended the AAP's governance in the national Capital, raising alarms about the party's electoral future in other regions.
