Jaipur, Sep 8 (NationPress) A brother and sister tragically lost their lives when a two-storey house collapsed in Dubkar village, Rajasthan on Monday, according to local officials.
A woman and her five children, who were asleep at the time, became trapped under the rubble.
In this heartbreaking occurrence, the two deceased siblings were identified, while the other children sustained severe injuries and were swiftly transported to Jurhara CHC, later transferred to Bharatpur due to their grave conditions.
All injured parties are now receiving care at RBM Hospital.
ASI Ranjit Singh stated that a police team was dispatched to the scene upon receiving the alert. Six-year-old Zara, the daughter of Sameen, was declared dead at the site.
Her brothers Zaid, Shaif, and Shahrukh, along with their mother Ayesha, were rescued and taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, Zara’s brother Saif later succumbed to his injuries there.
The deceased bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. The incident occurred at the residence of Sameen, a resident of Nangla Doobokhar village.
The house comprised two rooms and verandahs on both levels.
On the night prior, Sameen’s wife and children were resting in the lower verandah when the structure unexpectedly collapsed.
The Bharatpur district has been enduring heavy monsoon downpours, resulting in waterlogging and structural damage.
In Deeg alone, approximately half a dozen homes have fallen this season, leaving multiple individuals injured. Pump sets are currently deployed in various locations to eliminate stagnant water, and officials have been instructed to stay vigilant.
Moreover, traffic was disrupted on National Highway-58E (Udaipur–Jhadol–Idar) near Jhadol this morning due to a landslide, causing a lengthy queue of vehicles.
Large boulders rolled down the hillside, exacerbating the situation.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in four districts and a yellow alert in six districts for Monday.
However, starting September 9, residents are anticipated to experience relief from the relentless rains.
Due to the weather conditions, schools remained closed on Monday in Udaipur (except within municipal limits), Salumber, Jalore, Dungarpur, Sirohi, Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Balotra districts.
