Hyderabad, Oct 12 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former minister T. Harish Rao reached out via phone on Sunday to 12 migrant workers from Telangana who find themselves trapped in Jordan, offering them unwavering support for their repatriation.
The workers, hailing from Nirmal, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Jagityal, and Siddipet, embarked on their employment journey a year ago but are currently facing a dire situation, lacking funds and the necessary permissions to return.
The BRS MLA communicated with the workers, informing them that the party is actively addressing the issue with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
His discussions included Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, while BRS MP Suresh Reddy is in continuous contact with MEA officials.
Harish Rao reassured the workers that every possible effort is being undertaken to facilitate their safe return to Telangana.
"Upon learning of your challenges, we immediately alerted the state government and Union Ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay," he stated.
"Additionally, BRS Lok Sabha leaders and Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Reddy are engaging with MEA officials," he continued.
"We are committed to bringing you back to Telangana," he emphasized, encouraging the migrant workers to remain hopeful.
The migrant workers expressed their struggles, highlighting their lack of funds for sustenance and the company’s refusal to grant permission for their return.
They implored for a reunion with their families in Telangana.
Previously, Harish Rao had tweeted expressing his discontent with the apathy of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy towards the situation of the 12 stranded workers.
"It is disgraceful that despite numerous appeals, both the Central and state governments, which should support the Gulf victims, are ignoring their plight. Do these governments not have a duty to stand by them?" he questioned.
He pointed out that under the former BRS administration, migration rates had decreased, but the current situation has reversed.
"Under the ongoing Congress governance, the lack of job opportunities has forced many to migrate," he commented.
"The Congress party has deceived various sections of society and has also failed the families of migrant workers. Their Abhaya Hastam manifesto made several promises regarding the welfare of Gulf workers and NRIs, yet none have been fulfilled to date. After a year and a half in power, what is the advisory committee, formed to analyze Gulf worker welfare and develop a comprehensive NRI policy, doing? While Gulf workers are in distress, what actions are the committee's chairman, vice-chairman, honorary members, and other members taking?" he questioned.
