New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) Officials from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) convened with Union Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, on Monday to discuss the public telecom company's ambitious expansion strategies.
The agenda included the rollout of 4G services across various telecom circles, the introduction of IFTV for FTTH and BiTV for mobile users, next-gen infotainment platforms, and the launch of the BSNL National Wi-Fi Roaming service, which will provide nationwide Wi-Fi connectivity for customers, as stated in an official release.
Additional initiatives include customized BSNL VPN services and bundled offerings for enterprise and government sectors, alongside CNPN projects aimed at ensuring high-reliability connectivity for mission-critical infrastructure while maintaining a spam-free network.
The discussions centered around enhancing BSNL’s influence in the telecom industry, speeding up infrastructure deployment, and improving service delivery for citizens, according to the statement.
Extensive dialogues took place focusing on refining network performance, upgrading customer service, and modernizing organizational structures. This thorough exchange underscored BSNL’s commitment to being a customer-focused telecom service provider, with a strong mandate of “Revenue First” targets across all operational units.
As per BSNL’s financial reports, the company achieved a net profit of Rs 280 crore in the January-March quarter (Q4) of FY25, marking its second consecutive profitable quarter after nearly two decades.
This followed a profit of Rs 262 crore in the October-December quarter, representing the first profit for BSNL in 18 years. The government has previously announced several financial revival packages for BSNL, amounting to Rs 3 lakh crore, as part of its mission to revitalize the struggling public sector unit.
Earlier this month, Scindia stated that India's first fully indigenous 4G network has been successfully implemented nationwide.
“BSNL is now entirely equipped to serve its customers with a robust, indigenous 4G network. This signifies not just a revival but a complete reinvention of BSNL’s role in India's digital landscape,” remarked the Union Minister.
