New Delhi, April 22 (NationPress) The Central government aims to nurture a generation that is socially aware and responsible. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, stated on Tuesday that it is essential for every student to engage in raising awareness and fulfilling their duties.
He stressed that the involvement of youth is vital for establishing a safer and cleaner India.
"The Central government is implementing various initiatives to decrease pollution and road accidents in the capital. To effectively address these challenges, children like you must demonstrate social responsibility and awareness,” Gadkari remarked during the unveiling of the road safety educational module ‘Surakshit Safar’ at Kendriya Vidyalaya 2.
“The future is in hydrogen. Our goal should be to become an energy-exporting nation instead of relying on imports,” he added.
Gadkari further emphasized that the youth's participation is crucial in creating a safer and cleaner India, urging children to play an active role in mitigating pollution and road incidents.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also underscored the significance of road safety, revealing that the NCERT is developing a new curriculum and textbooks centered on road safety.
He mentioned that both the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Education are intensifying their efforts to raise road safety awareness.
Pradhan stated that the 30 crore students are pivotal in molding a road-safe nation, making it essential for them to grasp the basics of road safety.
"Educational resources on this topic will soon be made available for students from Class 1 to Class 12," Pradhan said.
"As our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, asserts, road safety is a vital issue that must evolve into a people-driven movement. We are aligning our efforts with his vision," he added.
SIAM Executive Director Prashant K. Banerjee, who also spoke at the event, pointed out that road safety continues to be a significant barrier to India’s growth and called for a generational shift to ensure a lasting impact.
