Kolkata, Dec 11 (NationPress) A delegation from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited Bhola Ghosh's home on Thursday. Bhola is a pivotal witness in a criminal case involving the now-suspended Trinamool Congress leader, Sheikh Shahjahan, from Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
Reports indicate that the CBI officials sought information regarding the tragic death of Bhola's younger son, Satyajit Ghosh, who lost his life in a road accident on Wednesday.
Satyajit was with his father as they headed to the trial court to have Bhola's statement against Shahjahan officially recorded.
Following the incident, Bhola Ghosh lodged a formal complaint at the Nazat police station under the Basirhat district police, naming eight individuals he claims were responsible for the accident, which he narrowly survived.
The complaint prominently features the names of Sheikh Shahjahan and his spouse, Taslima Bibi, as the first two accused.
The other six individuals named in the complaint include Gaffar Sheikh, Sabir Ali Molla, Chairap Meer, Abdul Kahar Molla, Abdul Ali Molla, and Nazrul Molla.
In his statement, Bhola specifically identified Sabir Ali Molla as the driver of the truck that collided with their vehicle.
Sheikh Shahjahan is currently in custody facing multiple charges, including the alleged orchestration of attacks on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials and their accompanying Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) members outside his residence in Sandeshkhali last year. Other charges include illegal land acquisition, forceful conversion of agricultural land for fish farming by introducing saline water, and sexual exploitation of local women.
Recently, the CBI submitted a report detailing approximately 3,000 individual complaints against Sheikh Shahjahan to the Calcutta High Court.
In their findings, the CBI presented evidence that they believe corroborates the various allegations against Shahjahan.
The investigative progress report also highlighted the close associates of Shahjahan who are reportedly involved in facilitating these illegal activities.
